Weather Issues & Solutions

WEDDING DAY WEATHER ISSUES AND SOLUTIONS
Can anyone really predict the weather accurately? I don’t think so either. Well, depending upon your wedding location and date, it is wise to be prepared for less than perfect weather. Whether it’s a scorcher or a downpour, there are solutions to weather issues if you prepare beforehand. And just remember to enjoy your day no matter what.

Hot Weather:
1. Do not use metal chairs for outdoor weddings (prevent guests from getting burned by choosing wood or chiavari chairs).
2. Remember to bring handkerchiefs to wipe perspiration (kleenex may leave particles on your face).
3. Distribute fans to guests. Make FANS as your programs or favors.
4. Prevent dehydration by serving lemonade or sparkling water to guests before ceremony. Remember to keep yourself hydrated as well!
5. Supply oil-blotting papers to bridal party to prevent shiny noses.
6. Provide refreshing spray in restrooms to keep guests comfortable and smelling great.
7. Distribute sun umbrellas.
8. Provide shelter or shade by renting a tent.
9. Aluminum Chloride Deodorant (aluminum chloride helps control the amount of moisture excreted from your underarm; other deodorants do not keep you dry; they just make you smell better).
10. Talc-free powder make-up (helps keep sweat-prone areas dry).
11. Bugs (Ask your venue if there might be an issue and what they do to prevent bug attacks).
12. Supply sunscreen for guests or remind guests to bring some with them to the wedding.
13. If you are having an indoor wedding, ask the venue if there is air conditioning. There is nothing worse than guests leaving early because it is 105 degrees at your indoor reception.
14. For hair styles, consider how hot it may be on your wedding day. Does your hair tend to get frizzy in humidity? Do you tend to sweat when your hair is down? Talk to your hairstylists about your concerns.

Cold or Rainy Weather:

1. For an outdoor wedding, always have an indoor option…we call it Plan B!
2. Rent a waterproof tent (with surrounding sidewalls and eaves over walkway).
3. Rent gas heat lamps for warmth.
4. Provide umbrellas if rain is in the forecast.
5. Bugs (mosquito spray, wasp/bee traps, citronella candles, ask your venue what they do to prevent bug attacks).

Windy Weather:
1. Use hurricane glasses for candles or artificial lighting.
2. Amplify your officiant and yourselves during the ceremony.
3. Secure seating cards with ribbon.
4. Attach some small fish weights on edge of veil to prevent it from going crazy in the wind!
5. The right hair style is important if you know you will be in a windy area. This does not mean you have to pin it up tightly or spray tons of hairspray in it, but you don’t want it blowing in your face all day long. Talk to your hairstylist for ideas on how to control frizziness and wind-blown hair.
